Dear First Grade Families,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me last week for parent-teacher conferences. I enjoyed speaking with each of you and sharing all the great things happening with your child in our classroom. It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already around the corner and that we've already have our first snowfall! I hope everyone had a safe commute Thursday afternoon. I know our class was certainly excited to sneak peeks of the snow throughout the day!
Over the last week, we spent time learning about nouns. When we get back from Thanksgiving break, we will learn about verbs. Students will learn that a complete sentence needs a noun and a verb. We also started to learn all about punctuation. Check out the video (audio only) of our class reading Yo! Yes? by Chris Raschka. We used the punctuation to read with expression. In math, we worked on some new subtraction strategies. Next week, we will use subtraction to compare (how many more? how many fewer).
On Friday, our class went to an assembly where we heard a Grammy-award winning songwriting sing songs to use about kindness and empathy. IT was such a special way to end the week!
Please ask your child about:
Please keep the following upcoming dates in mind:
Have a wonderful weekend!
