Dear First Grade Families,
I hope everyone had a great time at Friday's PTO-sponsored Trick or Trunk!
This week in first grade, we published our first books in Writing Workshop. We celebrated by decorating our room and shared our stories with one another. Next week we will record ourselves reading our books and post them onto SeeSaw. IF you haven't yet connected to your child's SeeSaw journal, this is a great time to do so! In reading workshop, we read Stellaluna and Nightsong. We practiced retelling both stories, and we reread to notice new and interesting words. In math, we practiced solving story problems using pictures, numbers, and words, and we worked on solving problems with more than one solution. We also started Book Check this week! Thank you so much to all of the parent volunteers who make this program possible!!!
Be sure to ask your child about:
Next week we will celebrate Halloween on Wednesday afternoon. IF your child plans to wear a costume to our party in the afternoon, please send him/her to school in regular clothes in the morning, and your child will put the costume over the clothes they wear to school. If the costume requires changing in the bathroom (if it cannot be put over his/her clothing), please practice with your child how to put on the costume, as they will be putting it on themselves.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Penna
