Dear Parents and Families,
Though the last few weeks have been short, we have crammed in a lot of learning! Here are some of the things we've done in first grade:
In reading workshop, we've been working on inferring, identifying character traits, and we will begin learning about theme next week. We've also been learning all about adding "magic e" to end of words to make the vowel long (say its' name), i.e. cap become cape and hop becomes hope.
In writing workshop, we are putting the finishing touches on our final drafts of our persuasive letters. Our goal is to mail them by the end of the week.
In math, we have been learning about different strategies to help us learn and practice our addition facts quickly.
In science, we are continuing to learn about patterns in the sky. WE have been studying the sun, moon, and patterns on Earth such as day and night and the seasons.
Some other exciting things that have happened in our class include:
Some reminders for upcoming events:
Also, be sure to check out the Pictures Pages for some fun class photos, and continue to follow your child's SeeSaw journal!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Penna :)
